3 TVXQ members to work with Timbaland
The three members of boy band TVXQ who are in legal dispute with SM Entertainment, their Korean agency, are planning to make their own album that will be released worldwide.
According to Korean media, Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun, and Youngwoong Jaejoong will be working with the likes of Grammy winner Timbaland and Korean composer Kim Hyung Suk in producing their own album.
A person who is involved in the project said a US music label will be involved in the project. The main target of the album is Asia, where TVXQ is enjoying immense popularity.
The three members are reportedly flying to the US this month to work on the album.
Last year, the three sued SM Entertainment to annul their exclusive contracts. A Korean court later issued a preliminary injunction on their contracts and allowed the three to pursue their activities. The court has yet to issue a final ruling on the case.
All TVXQ members focused on their career in Japan, where they are hugely popular. They released singles and albums that have topped Japan’s Oricon charts.
Last April 3, Avex, the boy band’s agency in Japan, announced that TVXQ (known as Tohoshinki in Japan) will suspend its group activities.
“The activities of Tohoshinki will be suspended, but our company will make our best efforts in order to support the activities of the five members, who possess outstanding talents and are promised with a great future, at full strength,” according to the Avex announcement.
Two weeks later, Junsu, Yoochun, and Jaejoong announced that they would be forming their own group.
Two days after the announcement, SM Entertainment filed a case against the three before the Seoul Central District Court to question the preliminary decision of the court last year.
