Super Junior astounds Pinoys at The 2nd Asia Tour: Super Show 2
Thousands of fan girls (and fan boys) had the time of their lives when Korean pop idols, Super Junior performed at the Araneta Coliseum for the last leg of their “The 2nd Asia Tour: Super Show 2” on April 10.
The popular Korean boy band lived up to its billing as one of Asia’s top K-pop acts as the storied venue was filled with a sea of pearl sapphire blue as thousands of ELFs, or Everlasting Friends (as fans of the group collectively call themselves), came in throngs to witness the performance.
The three-hour concert saw the audience screaming and cheering from start to finish.
Some fans were already at the Araneta Coliseum in the morning even though the concert was to start at 7 in the evening.
The main area of the coliseum was transformed into a huge circular stage, stretching all the way around the audience so that fans could see the group up close. The stage itself, consisting of 329 platforms, was said to be the largest indoor/outdoor stage built in Philippine history.
Twelve members of Super Junior and sub-group Super Junior M performed in the Manila show including leader Leeteuk, Siwon, Donghae, Kyuhyun, Shindong, Sungmin, Yesung, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, Heechul, Henry, and Zhou Mi.
The boy band performed about 30 songs from their albums including “Don’t Don,” “Sorry Sorry,” “Marry U,” “Shining Star,” “Angela,” “Super Girl” and “A Man in Love,” “Disco Drive” and “Dancing Out.”
Super Junior also incorporated a dash of Filipino phrases in the concert. The audience cheered in particular when Shindong counted in Filipino.
Siwon earned shrieks when he opened his coat to reveal his abs, leaving the audience awed and wanting.
The other members interacted with the audience every chance they got. As the concert end drew nearer, they used water guns to play with the audience.
At the end of the concert, Super Junior thanked Filipino fans for their support and bowed to the audience.
