February 25 was a heartbreaking day for fans of 2PM after JYP Entertainment announced that Park Jaebum, the former leader of the group, will not be rejoining the K-pop boy band due to an alleged personal wrongdoing. JYPE said they told the remaining six members of 2PM of the news on January 3 and after three days, it alleged that the members agreed that it would be hard for them to work with Jaebum. No one among the six members of 2PM has made any personal statement regarding the JYPE notice. JYPE refused to reveal what Jaebum told the company official, saying that it’s "private." “The company came to a conclusion that Park Jaebum was not fit to be a celebrity that was affiliated with them and decided to terminate the contact with him,” JYPE said.

Rather than calming fans, however, the session further aggravated them due to the lack of answers provided about Park’s actions and his bandmates’ reactions. People who participated in the session wrote on various portal sites that band members sniggered during questions, were indifferent toward the former lead singer and even seemed aggressive.

K-pop boy band FT Island will be very busy for the whole year and will be spending more time in Japan to focus on their music after their Asian tour, after which they will come back to South Korea. This was revealed by the boy band when they held their press conference at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City in line with their FT Island Manila 2010 Showcase, which will be held on Saturday, March 6, at 6 p.m. at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Plenary Hall. The Manila Showcase and fan meeting were organized by SpinManila, an events and concerts company. Tickets to the Showcase and fan meeting were all sold out, according to the organizer, proving FT Island’s popularity in the Philippines. Lee Hongki said once their Asian promo tour ends, FT Island would be flying back to Japan to “study more music” and go back to South Korea in the latter part of the year. FT Island’s Asian tour started in January in Japan and then they went to Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. FT Island’s schedule on March 5 was packed. Before the press conference, the boy band members—Song Seung Hyun, Lee Jae Jin, Choi Min Hwan, Lee Hongki, and Choi Jong Hun—guested on ABS-CBN’s “Showtime,” to the delight of hundreds of fans who even brought banners to the studio. On the TV program, Hongki sang “Still (As Ever)," a cut from the official soundtrack of the Korean teen drama series “You’re Beautiful,” where he also is a cast member.

The video shows Jaebum singing a cover version of “Nothing on You”--a hit song by American rapper B.o.B --acapella inside a bathroom. It was Jaebum himself who posted the video on March 16 (March 15 in Seattle, Washington where he is now based). This is the first time that fans have heard and seen Jaebum after he got embroiled in controversy over a racial slur he allegedly made against Koreans on Myspace. He has since left South Korea and is back in Seattle. As of this writing, the video continues to draw subscribers and comments. On his YouTube channel, Jaebum wrote his appreciation to the fans for their support. “I'd like to thank all the fans that have been so nice to me, my family, my crew, thank you so much for all your love and support. I created this YouTube account so i can post up videos of just covers and whatever and you guys could watch so yeah check it out,” he said. Fans have been longing for updates about Jaebum especially when JYP Entertainment and the remaining members of 2PM permanently ousted him from the boy band last February 25. Jaebum’s expulsion from the group has divided fans and turned thousand of them into “antifans.” More than 80 2PM fan sites have since closed as a sign of protest against the remaining members and their management. The YouTube video has drawn thousands of positive comments from fans. Most commented that they missed Jaebum and expressed their undying love and support for him.
