Police Investigate G-Dragon's Staged Sex During December Concert
Sex sells. But if you simulate it on the wrong stage, like for over 10,000 tweens and 40,000 other fans in South Korea, it's cause for the National Police to be after you. Which is where KPOP's beloved bad boy and leader of Big Bang, G-Dragon finds himself after an incident during a December concert.
Allkpop reports that when G-Dragon was asked about his erotic bed humping scene with backup dancer Aimee Lucas during the song, 'Breathe,' at the December performance, he replied that he, "didn't know it was that sexually explicit." As described in the interrogation, the scene began when a bed was rolled onto the stage, and the fully clothed couple laid against it simulating sex while heavy breathing and moaning echoed from the speakers. According to the district court representative, G-Dragon denies all charges. A final decision on the investigation--whether his action should be punishable by law or not--will be made by next week.
Had the concert attending age been raised from 13 to 19 years and older, making it an adult concert, G-Dragon may have skirted any criticism. If you are wondering why Korean authorities are chastising staged acts that are purely entertainment especially in the 21st century, here is one answer. According to Korea Times, some criminologists believe the exposure to sexually explicit material is responsible for the rise in sex crimes such as rape and harassment among teenagers.
